<font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Verdana, Arial">Each day holds new beginnings ... in the gleeful smiles of a baby discovering the wonders of the world, in the eyes of those who promise to love and to cherish, in the celebration of another year ... another sunrise ... another breath. New beginnings bring joy.
New beginnings can be found in the tides of courage that drive us forward to new jobs, new homes, new chapters of life - and in the trust we place in the arms of those who hold us up when that courage ebbs. New beginnings offer hope.
Each day gives us a new opportunity to discover the art of living ... and to create our own masterpiece.

sure its great in text....
confucius says:
the world is suspended on the shoulders of sturdy gallows...
the gallows of the paranoid, oppressed and cowardly.
otherwise, being noble and courageous wouldn't
be so... er, noble and courageous.
the stagnant air surrounding the swinging ropes
is nothing more than hope... waiting for the
thief to release himself from his prison...
but the rope swings on.
its a shame..... isn't it.....?
not really...it's called choice- you can see the rope as a means of reaching out; of securing; of being able to assist someone else out of a hole...or you can hang yourself with it.
the opportunity swings on...i see the glass not only half FULL, i'm optomistic enough to know where the pitcher is to fill that sucker to over flowing!
"i cried when i had no shoes until i met a man who had no feet."
yes it absolutely is choice, no doubt about it...and i choose the hope and joy
and to know someone who is faced with the simplest things being a challenge...and knowing that the challenges will get harder...and STILL can talk about reaching for that pitcher to fill his glass to overflowing....
well....it inspires me
to the man who has taught me much about myself and the wonders of hope and possibility and the future....i raise my overflowing glass to meet his [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
you caught only half of my point. i had already
established choice... by showing that the thief
could easily leave his prison.
however, this has nothing to do with optimism...
(nor pessimism for that matter).
it has to do with the fact that without counter-balance,
you would not be aware of that which is different. meaning, put simply, without contrast,
there is nothing obvious.
without suffering, you could not understand peace.
without melancholy, you could not understand happiness.
however, the concensus shows that there is more
of the negative contrasting the positive...
which is what gives the positive its appeal...
a single rose in a field of other roses can be
appreciated for its beauty... but its appreciation
as a separate entitiy is greatly reduced unless
it were contrasted in such a way that it were
the ONLY rose in the middle of a grey marsh.
what makes it a 'shame' is the fact that what
is negative must over-compensate for a singular
beauty, otherwise the beauty isn't seen.
now of course we could play semantics til the
cows come home. my only point was to show
some understanding of both the yin and yang...
without ignoring one or the other.
well yes, yin and yang do denote balance, conservation vs destruction and it's the balance of the two, no denying that
though neither can dominate the other, instead flowing between the two, moving, waxing and waning
to understand pain and suffering and loss and sadness is part of life...as is joy and love and happiness and peace and there are some who choose to go down the first road and make that their friend, while others seek the good in everything they possibly can, even in the face of extreme adversity
different strokes for different folks
excellent points made..its amazing to see how we can all take one line of something..and see so many different things within it..that is what i LOVE about having a message board..its great to see differing opinions..makes me look at things in a new light each time..
